Dr. Rubie Q Is Calling It:

Time of death: Approximately 9:55 p.m., September 8, 2008.

R.I.P., 2008 Brewers season.

(Takes away those electric paddle things from Drs. SB's Tony Gwynn and Sheets' Va Jay Jay)

Men -- stop. You've done all you can. It's over. They're gone.

(Dr. Va Jay Jay -- that sounds like a real doctor, doesn't it? Like an Indian dude or something -- begins to attempt CPR)

DAMMIT, MAN! IT'S OVER!

(Kicks over gurney, destroys hospital room)

I wouldn't go that far, but we are in deep trouble. Our chances in the next two games are solid. Soup vs some rookie and then CC on Wednesday.

Phillies series look ahead!!
Thursday: Sheets vs JA Happ - who the fuck is that?
Friday: Parra vs Moyer - yuck, Manny is sure to bitch out in that one
Saturday: Bush vs Hamels - another yuck
Sunday: Soup vs Joe Blanton - eh

We must win on Thursday, absolutely, positively. I'll be jumping on the panic button if we don't.

The real question is....if we manage to fall on our face again, does Melvin/Attanasio stick with Ned for another year or do they finally come to their senses and send him packing?

The better get rid of him.

I think Nedly is going to be back next year...much to the dismay of a lot of fans. His team is 20 games over .500. If they miss the playoffs then his stock goes down, but if the season ended today he'd be back tomorrow...probably with a new contract to boot!

PS-I know all the games are important, but why don't we give McClung a spot start on Wednesday against the Reds and move everyone back a start so that CC gets the first Phillies game. That game is way more important than the Reds game. The the pitching matchups would like like this:

Thursday: CC vs JA Happ - who the fuck is that, caulk up a W and set the tone of the series?
Friday: Sheets vs Moyer - suddenly a much better match-up on the mound and gives us a chance for the first 2.
Saturday: Parra vs Hamels - match-up of young lefties...hopefully Parra doesn't bitch out.
Sunday: Bush vs Joe Blanton - eh

The Soup starts the Cubs series followed by CC and Sheeter!

Makes sense to me, but I'm not holding my breath.

I like that pitching game plan. We need to make sure that CC starts against the Phils and the Cubs. It really only makes sense.

I'm still a believer in this team. We are in the drivers seat. It is our playoff spot to lose. I like that. Hell, lets take the division and beat the piss out of the Cubs.

Va Jay Jay-Your overwhelming optimism is sicken...you need to get your act together and stop being such a homer fan. Get with it, the season's over we have no chance of making the playoffs. Its going to be another 26 years before we make the playoffs. We suck!

Scott.....hell of an idea! Unfortunately Ned Yost isn't as smart as you to think of something like that. I guess that's why you make more money than he does.....oh wait a minute (I don't actually know what you make but I'm guessing it's not as much as Ned). Yesterday I was somewhat optimistic, yet it seems to slip away more and more each day.

I forgot to include the cause of death:

Suspicion was that this team was too young, didn't have enough experience, didn't have enough heart, etc. All of these have been ruled out.

CONTRIBUTING CAUSE OF DEATH: Manager coaching with two hands around his neck.

PRIMARY CAUSE OF DEATH: A decent and relatively talented team in a crappy league, but, when push came to shove, just not good enough.
