Crazy Night in the Big East

Villanova comes back to beat Pitt - thank you very much.
Providence owns Syracuse - thank you very much.
Cincinnati "upsets" Georgetown - not sure what to think of this one. Is this good for MU? How will G'town respond on Saturday. The MU board is saying that Summers rolled his ankle and didn't play in the second half.

Our chances of a Top 4 BET seed were really bolstered by these games. UL, Pitt and UConn are basically locks for 3 of the Top 4, so we'll have to battle it out with Cuse, Providence, Nova and WVU for the final double-bye. I really like our chances with that group. Already have wins over PC, Nova and WVU and we get the 'Cuse at home. That game @Nova could loom very large.

Thoughts on G'town anyone?

its going to get ugly Saturday...regardless of whether summers plays or is effective. this team is rollilng right now and playing awesome team basketball. coming home to a fired up BC should be awesome. MU blows out a depleted and not very good G-town team. McNeal goes for 30.

Monroe scares me. For some reason, I'm nervous as heck. I wish no ill will towards Summers, but I don't want him to play. We need to deny entry passes to Monroe and force GU to chuck up threes. I just want a win!!

My only concern is that the boys might be TOO fired up for this game. Right now, the Amigos are like Steve Buscemi's character in "Billy Madison": they've got their list of people who have wronged them and they're plotting to execute every last one of 'em. Georgetown has to be high on that last, with the way the game ended last year.

Dom, especially, is going to be geeked up (and well he should be, since he didn't foul that fuckhead on the last-second three attempt last year). I expect big things from him.

I wouldn't say that I am nervous, but you can't sleep on anyone in the Big East regardless of who the opponent is. If Summers doesn't play, that would be killer to Georgetown team that doesn't have much depth and is REALLY struggling at this point. I think the team is going to be extremely confident after the HUGE road win at Notre Dame and will come back to the friendly drunken confines of the Bradley Center ready to continue their winning streak.

Monroe is really good, but I think that he is still too young to completely dominate and take over a game. Plus he is only 6'8", so his size isn't going to be a huge issue. He plays well based on an incredible talent rather than an imposing size. Our "bigs" will do enough to keep him at bay. MU by 9. Jerel continues his incredible play to maintain competitiveness for POY honors.

I like Jim Beam

What does everyone think about becoming "friends of the program"? I suggest we put together a little kiddy.....maybe 30 bucks and a couple of snickers bars to give to that Riley kid during the g'town game. Do you think that would put us at the top of his list?

According to the Wash Post, JTIII said in his presser than Summers is doubtful for Saturday. He thinks it may be plantar fascitis or however the heck you spell it.

I hate those Plantar fascists. They're as bad as Illinois Nazis.

If we take care of G'town on Sat. I think it's safe to say that a couple of you will be paying me $1. We r on the verge of securing a 0.500 conference record before the calendar turns to February. Unreal!

And don't worry, your $1 will go to good use. I plan on putting it in my "friends of the program" bank account. Should we deliver a pimped out vehicle to Maymone like in "Blue Chips"? Why don't we hook him up with the Brewer mobile and I'll buy a pine tree air freshener with the money I receive from the QB brethren.

Rubie Q said...

For one, I think I'm the only one who made that bet with you, $. (And you wonder why I don't gamble.)

For another, why would get Maymone a pimped-out ride? He's already coming here. Don't we want to bribe potential recruits, not people who have committed?

EMoney said...

Not necessarily....we need to keep them happy by giving them pimped out rides, money, jobs, women, etc. It's standard operating procedure.

I think we get him a tractor like Rickey Roe got in Blue Chips. That movie has got to be one of the worst/great movies ever. If I flip by it I have to stop and watch it. Not only is it Nolte greatness, but you also have Shak and Penny.

Riley is from Detroit. I bet we tell him that our city doesn't have any burned out buildings and he'll be impressed.

FYI - Bilas has a recent article discussing "toughness" and he mentions Marquette in 3-4 different paragraphs. Good recognition if anyone is interested in reading it on espn.com.

correction - it's the article regarding "defenders that need to be recognized"
