The Friars

Big game tomorrow! Providence is playing quite well thus far (3-1 in Big East play), and being that our only conference road game has been Rutgers, I think that this will be a very good indicator at how good this team really is. I personally like our chances. It goes without saying that all conference road games are tough, but Providence is built similarly to Mu in that they are guard heavy and have a "smallish" go to forward in Geoff McDermott. So I think overall we match up well in that I would take James, McNeal, Matthews and Hayward over Efejuku, Curry, and McDermott. Two things concern me however: 1) How will the 1 week layoff affect how we come out and play? Will there be signs of rust? Being that it's a road game, it would be-who us not to build a large deficit early. In fact, I think that in order to win we need to have a fast start and keep the crowd out of it as much as possible. 2) Is everyone healthy? Whatever McMorrow and Hayward had must have been passed to the others, because according to Rosiak 3-4 other players missed practice due to illness throughout the week. This could become an issue due to our lack of depth. If everyone is healthy, and we keep our rustiness at a minimum I predict a 77-71 victory. Our defensive tandem of James/Mcneal should really limit what Curry and Efejuku do offensively. McDermott will play well as he usually does against us, but it won't be enough. James has another great road game.

i'm concerned about the sicknesses and 1 week layoff but the Friars also had a one week layoff. I'm not as confident abou thtis game, but I think MU squeaks one out. I'll say MU wins 74-70. FT's down the stretch are key and Wes has another big night.

Am I the only one that has heard of this phrase? I've heard it used frequently in "The Golden Girls" and "Who's the Boss" re-runs. Surely you've seen these before. No? Maybe I didn't spell it correctly.

What aboue "behoove" E?
We'll win a squeaker 76-72 and get a big night from Jerel.

Good call D3. Too much bourbon last night.

Anyone watch the Badgers crap themselves last night?

i flipped to the game at 10 and Landry was on the line with 1 minute to go and they were up 5...figured it was over and turned on the news...it got to sports with Dan Needles and all of a sudden he says Badgers in control for most of this one but its currently in overtime and I turn it back to the game in time to watch the last minute. after watching the highlights...can we now safely say that Jay-Bo has not business being on the floor. Looked like a lost dog on transition defense and had that ball swatted away at the end of regulation. if he pulls the ball out to the corner and runs 5 seconds off the clock before getting fouled Bucky wins. Its great to see them lose, but it also hurts us indirectly. PS-Bo has some awesome Bo-faces last night.

Zone - you watch the local news? WHY????? I would rather stick my arm in a wood chipper than watch that schlock.
Also - I will be at the 1 year old b-day party on Saturday, per your text inquiry last night.

The Badgers were pretty much dominating for the first 35 minutes. Then Tub's decided to put the press on and the Badgers were clueless. I don't understand why it takes teams so long to realize that WI can't handle full court pressure. I believe the QB was even discussing this in November before they played MU. J-Bo is a mediocre ball handler for a guard, and Trevon just does too many stupid things with the ball. Anyhow, the loss doesn't strengthen MU's RPI, but who cares. If we would have lost to them, then it might hurt us more. We took care of business against them and need to continue to do so the rest of the season.

i assume you will be ditching the 1 year old birthday party for the more lively Sutton household for the game? that's my plan.

Rubie Q said...

Well, let's weigh these things:

(1) Madison wins, improves our RPI.

(2) Madison loses ... to the Gophs ... who had lost 12 straight times in Madison ... coughs up a double-digit lead in the last five minutes ... falls apart at home for the second time in a month ... leading Badger fans to question Bo's recruiting of unathletic white guys ... and further demonstrating that the Badgers' run of success in the Big 11 was based, at least in part, on the rest of the conference being fucking awful for several years.

It's close. I'll go with the latter.

Rube's...you beat me to it. The comments from the latest badger blog on jsonline crack me up. Especially that part about recruiting too many "stiff whities".....followed by an offended badger fan....."are you calling Brian Butch a stiff whitie?". Yes, sir, I believe he is. If anyone here is looking for a chuckle I highly suggest reading a few of the comments. Between the football season and the hoops season thus far, the Badger rose colored glasses aren't looking so rosy these days.

I will certainly ditch out for Reid's party.

My choice is that latter as well.

$-are you posting comments on the badger js blog?

Rubie Q said...

Zone D, I would like to hire you as a private investigator for our firm. You're like a modern-day Columbo. How you figured out that $ is posting on the js blog when his user name is the same as his email is just ... It's impressive as hell, is what it is. I wish you were my dad.

E - have fun tangling with Abe over in that cesspool. He's a grade A d-bag who hates MU more than all of us hate UW combined. I guess there's nothing to that argument that MU-UW isn't a rivalry.

EMoney said...

Yes Zone I am.....I love to rattle their cages! Although you're right in regards to Abe....biggest tool ever. I avoid him on the MU blog, but don't mind going under cover and messin' with him on the badger blog.

Rubes - I'm glad that Zone is finally starting to "get it" around these parts.

Still doesn't get that using people's names is not good. I thought we went over this... I don't think Mrs. Reid or Mrs. Q want to be linked to us.
