For What It's Worth...

My predictions for tonight's slate of entertaining tilts.

Purdue vs. UConn
I like Purdue, a lot. They are going to give UConn a tough game. UConn will really feel the Dyson injury tonight, but Thabeet puts them over the edge, 67-65.

Xavier vs. Pitt
Pitt will sleepwalk once again, but Xavier doesn't have the horses to close it out. Look for Levance Fields to shoot 3-16 with all 3 makes coming in the last two minutes. 73-68.

Missouri vs. Memphis
Memphis will SHUT DOWN Missouri on the offensive side. This game will be ugly as heck, and Memphis will win on the strength of their defense, 68-59.

Villanova vs. Duke
The jewel of the night. High scoring, perimeter oriented game. Does Paulus even take off the warm-up? I'm tempted to predict a Duke win because Singler could be a nightmare match-up, but I have to go with the Big East brethren in a 85-81 shootout.

Wait ... you're telling me Coach K didn't send Greg Paulus to live with a nice farm family upstate?

Quiet today. Has Todd Welter threatened to cut off everybody's toes if they comment at the Buffet?

Nobody told me we got linked for all that Todd Welter hating. Since I didn't chime in earlier, for the record, I think Todd Welter is a fuck face.

Did you see what the "Ryan Miller" guy wrote?

And they played like poo in March. Todd called them out on it. That's what writers do. [could have fooled me...Todd is NOT a writer. Once again, he mixed up Sean Miller and Tony Miller]

Wesley Matthews.....7-41 in those 3 games in March. That's 17% shooting. That's unacceptable. [You sound like Todd, a whiny, entitled little bitch]

Greg Paulus is playing the role Bill Walton played on those Bird-Parrish-McHale team. Towel waver!

We're getting linked all over the place now. Did I mention that Cracked Sidewalks has a permanent link to the QB on the right side of their page?

UConn - D3, what were you thinking? Giving Purdue, a Big10 team, a great shot at beating the cheating Huskies? I agree Purdue plays tough D and finished 2nd in the rugged Big10, but seriously? Well UConn won by 12.....spread was 7.....money in the bank!

Pitt still playing like ass...tied with Xavier 3 min's to play. Xavier +7.5...money in the bank again!

Looking forward to both of the late matchups.

What's this "in those 3 games in March" nonsense? Wesley played FOUR games in March. Because it doesn't support his argument, he just leaves out the part where Wesley was 7-15 from the field and 8-9 from the line against Mizzou.

And the other thing? Those games where Wesley went 7-41 from the field? Yeah, we won two of them, and lost the other on a last-second layup.

Fucking clown shoes.

Watching the start of the Memphis/Mizzou game.......I suddenly got very bitter when the Missouri players were being introduced. SHUX!

Devil's Threesome said...

and I'm very bitter that they are rolling Memphis!!

EMoney said...

Why are you bitter that they're rolling Memphis? We all knew that Memphis was highly overrated.....wait, I knew that they were overrated.

Devil's Threesome said...

Why bitter? Because it further proves that we could be in the Elite 8 now.

Everyone has been saying that Memphis was overrated for years (me included). Well, they made the Finals last year and the Elite 8 in 2006 and 2007. Not too shabby.

Nice call on the Pitt game, D3.

EMoney said...

That was a very accurate prediction D3, nice work!

I thought you (D3) were criticizing me for thinking that Memphis was overrated all year?

Devil's Threesome said...

Thanks for the love the Pitt pick. I pretty much screwed up every other pick though. UConn rolled Purdue, Memphis couldn't stop Missou and Nova rolled Duke. Oh well.

The Memphis game shocked me. They just couldn't stay in front of Mizzou's guys. Wide-open threes whenever Mizzou wanted them. I was dumbfounded. Are Mizzou's athletes that good, or was Memphis that overrated defensively?

Devil's Threesome said...

It's the mid-major curse. Memphis IS better than Missou, but they hadn't played a legit team in months (no, Maryland and Gonzaga don't count). Just like Utah St, they were shocked by Missou's athleticism and got down quickly. A
contributing factor is that Memphis can't fucking shoot. Fucking a, how can a team be that physically gifted, yet clang everything beyond 10 feet? That Mack guy missed every 3 he took in the last two minutes. They all just drifted to the right and clanged off the back iron.

EMoney said...

How can you be shocked by the Memphis/Mizzou game? Don't get me wrong, Memphis is a very good team, but in my opinion they got overhyped because they look the part.....long, athletic, and the #1 incoming freshman in the nation. Lets not forget how many good players they lost from last year's team. Put them on a floor with a team that's as athletic, but can shoot better, and overall is a more experienced and mature team = no contest. And no their 27 straight wins didn't impress me (neither did Utah St's 30+ wins). Memphis is now becoming the one and done factory.

Rubie Q said...

What shocked me is that, unlike Utah State, Memphis has athletes. But Mizzou looked like they were on another level, athletically speaking. Maybe I'm an idiot (don't answer that), but I didn't expect Memphis to get run out of the gym.

EMoney said...

Maybe everyone has underestimated Mizzou this year. They did win the Big 12 tourney. It's not the Big East, but it's not the A-10 by any stretch.

Further, maybe everyone had underestimated how good Marquette really was. We'll never know. I do think that Memphis would have beat MU. To much length and athleticism. Who in the h*ll would have guarded Tyreke Evans? Acker? Jerel? Wes? He's a 6'6" PG! It may not have been pretty.

Devil's Threesome said...

Mizzou didn't guard Evans and it seemed to work out well for them...

EMoney said...

I only watched part of the 1st half, and he was playing pretty well when I was watching. Put on some sick ball handling and finishing in the paint.

Devil's Threesome said...

Oh yeah, Evans was great, I'm still bitter about Mizzou so I'm making fun of their half court defense. Evans is the realy deal.
