MU keeps rolling 71-65
I'm with you D3.....very nervous about this one. If the score is that low, we will likely lose.St. Johns is a team whose confidence can be crushed right out the gate, so we need to jump on them early by playing MU basketball. Bringing more intensity and playing smart (ie. win the turnover battle) should lead to a W. Win this game will remove a ton of pressure on the Seton Hall game. Not that we don't need to win the Seton Hall game to make the tourney, but I don't think we will be overly punished for losing 1 of 3 on this road trip.Oh, and we could really use a resurgent game from Lazar tonight. Enough of these poor shooting performances from him.
I was more nervous about the Cincy game than I am about this game. I think we need 3 more wins and that includes our first round game in NYC to feel good about our chances to head into the big dance. if we lose tonight its not the end of the world just our margin for error shrinks. And I agree that SJU is a team that can be crushed with a quick start, but that also describes Cincy and they seemed to handle our 17-0 run pretty well to end the first half Sunday. And as long as we stay out of foul trouble I'm not to worried about our lack of size as it causes match up issues on both sides of the ball. hopefully SJU decides to match up against us and elave their bigs on the bench like Mick did with Gates.but yeah I think we are gonna win tonight and take care of Seton Hall Sunday. we might lose to the Ville though as they could give us fits.
ps-rubie thinks we are going to get outcoached and Mo/Cooby are going to cost us the game. we lose by 15 and NIT here we come
I felt good about Cincy b/c we HAD to have that. There was no concern about focus. I'm worried they won't be focused b/c this is a sandwich game.I agree that we can break their will early. Hopefully it will happen. Getting pumped!!
I think we win by 7 - I'm gonna predict 71 - 64....MU makes a nice run to start the 2nd half and keep maintain a 6-12pt lead. With that said, I believe Zar continues to struggle, especially given the size of St. John's. I think his come back game will be Sunday at the Hall. Somebody please sit both Buzz and Zar down and say "Zar - I know you are a stud and the clear #1 on the team, but dude, you can't score with your back to the basket. Buzz - I know you love Zar - but please stop coming out of timeouts running plays to Zar in the post"
Note to self: do not point out legitimate concerns to SBTG.
And I'm expecting SBTG to rip Mr. R's Brownies for questioning any aspect of Buzz's coaching or any aspect of a player's game.
i agree 100% with Mr. R's Brownies.
rubie-I just think its funny that the only time we ever hear you talk about mu hoops is after a loss.
Then I hope not to speak to you tomorrow.
For the record, STG, Cincy is a better team than St. Johns.....let me rephrase......Cincy is at least on the bubble whereas St. Johns has been in the cellar for over a decade. I just see St.Johns as a jeckyl and hyde type of team. They can lose to the likes of Rutgers, Providence, and Seton Hall, then go out and beat Louisville, Notre Dame, and South Florida. With them completely off the bubble, there isn't any pressure.....they can simply play spoiler with nothing to lose.
SHIIIIIIITTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Baby Blues Tonight!We're doomed!
